The goal of this program is to introduce young athletes (ages 8-18) to the sport of triathlon in a healthy, fun, and safe environment. All training will be hands on and led by certified coaches. Coaching will include technique and skills in all 3 disciplines as well as how to navigate the transition area. Good sportsmanship and respect for teammates, fellow competitors and volunteers will be encouraged. No previous triathlon experience is required.
May Training Session
• This session will include 2 swim workouts, held at Arrowhead High School, focusing on skills necessary for the open water swim portion of triathlons.
• The 7 other practices will be a combination of bike and bike/run “brick” workouts. The group will meet in Hartland at the Bicycle Barn and ride/run on a safe trail. If the weather is not cooperative the workout will be moved indoors to indoor trainers which will allow the kids to ride their own bikes. During these 7 sessions the group will work on bike skills, riding safely with others, transitions, improving bike and run fitness and of course having fun! At least one practice will conclude with a pizza party.
